Lauren Kleiman for Re-Election 2026

Protecting what makes Newport Beach Special:

Safer neighborhoods Less homelessness A better quality of life.

Experience

I stand on my record

When I was elected, I promised to protect the safety, character, and quality of life that make Newport Beach such an exceptional place to call home. I’m proud to say we’ve delivered real, measurable results. We’ve reduced unsheltered homelessness from 96 individuals to just 8, while cutting spending on programs that weren’t working. We’ve strengthened public safety, invested in new technology and enforcement tools, and helped drive crime down 12.8% in 2025.

We’ve protected our neighborhoods, supported our local businesses, improved our public spaces, and fought to preserve the quality of life our residents expect. But there is more work to do. I’m running for re-election to build on our progress, fight for our residents, and make sure Newport Beach remains safe, strong, and an extraordinary place to live for generations to come.

Key Issue

A Safe Community

Our Police and Fire are the best of the best. They should be fully funded and staffed so that they can be effective in their role in keeping our community safe and our properties secure. We need leadership who prioritizes our public safety and works beyond local measures to control the influx of international criminals and gang members committing property and other crimes.

Key Issue

Homelessness

Since taking office, Lauren has delivered on her promise to reduce homelessness throughout the City; working diligently to propose new policies that hold everyone accountable to getting individuals off of the street. The last Point in Time Count dropped from 96 in 2022 to 8 in 2026. She continues her commitment to make this issue a top priority.

Key Issue

Enhancing Our Community

Great communities are about more than protecting what we have—they thrive when we continue investing in the places and experiences that bring people together. Lauren has worked with residents, businesses and community partners to bring new energy and investment to Newport Beach neighborhoods. In Corona del Mar, she helped launch 3rd Thursdays, turning a grassroots idea into a signature Village tradition, while advancing beautification efforts through public art, landscaping and holiday décor enhancements and supporting the Commercial Corridor Study. These initiatives strengthen local businesses, create opportunities for neighbors to connect and ensure our community continues to look and feel like the exceptional place residents are proud to call home.

Key Issue

Protecting Our Quality of Life

Newport Beach is an extraordinary place to live, and protecting our quality of life requires thoughtful, proactive leadership. Lauren has championed policies that preserve the character of our neighborhoods, address disruptive and unsafe behavior, and ensure our beaches and public spaces remain safe and enjoyable. From expanding Safety Enhancement Zones and strengthening short-term lodging enforcement to advancing protections surrounding sober living facilities and other neighborhood impacts, Lauren remains committed to protecting what makes Newport Beach such a special place to call home.
